Forthcoming Events

The Fifth Melbourne Computing Education Conventicle (MCEC2008) is being held at the University of Melbourne on Friday, 14 Nov 2008. See the web page for more information.

Special Events

CERG has organised and hosted the following events:

Working with Statistics in Computing Education Research (WSCER)

Presenter: Graeme Byrne (LaTrobe University)
Organisers: Judy Sheard & Angela Carbone

The WSCER workshop was organised by CERG for the computing education community both nationally and internationally. This was conducted over two days immediately prior to the Australasian Computing Education conference in January 2007. There were 16 participants. The workshop was designed to develop knowledge and skills in quantitative data analysis, with an emphasis on understanding what questions can be asked of different types of data. Participants at the workshop gained practical experience in:

  • collection and preparation of quantitative data;
  • posing questions which can be answered with analysis of quantitative data;
  • interpreting the results of data analysis; and
  • reporting results of analysis of quantitative data.

1st Melbourne Computing Education Conventicle

The conventicle was a one day mini-conference where people were invited to present recently published work. This event provided an opportunity for sharing of ideas and for the development of collaborations.
